"LET'S TALK" ABOUT BEING SUCCESSFUL

“Let’s Talk”

RCOP wants you to be successful!

Spring planting is here, and we aren’t successful if our clients aren’t successful!

Below are a few things to keep in mind before and during and after planting season begins:

Here’s the dirt the soil you are planting in will be the determining success of your outcome. You’ve put all your hard work into coming up with a plan for the best plant material for your customers’ locations, great job! Then the time comes for planting, your staff digs a hole and plops a plant in and in a few weeks, you wonder why it isn’t growing as expected? Amend the soil! This is most often forgotten especially in commercial applications due to time, staffing shortages and cost, all can put a damper on preparation, but this step is the most crucial when it comes to the success of your hard work and your client’s satisfaction. Read this past article Amend Brother! for further information on soil preparation.

Water please! This is best to be done in the morning before the air temperature rises. If it’s late in the day and the sun has been beating down, the plant is too hot and not likely going to take up any water because it has stopped transpiring. Also, you run the risk of water spots/ damaged foliage due to the temperature difference between the hot leaves and the cold water. So, remember, when it’s hot and humid, “water your people instead of your plants” quoted by Dr. Will Healy.

Feed me!  Plants need food to grow and flourish just like humans. Any feed you can provide is better than none. Sometimes time constraints and budgets don’t make it feasible to do so, but you will get a better outcome with a fertilization program and your plants will show you they are happy, and your clients will be happy too!

Happy Planting!
