MIDSUMMER HAPPENINGS

There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart."  -  Celia Thaxter

West Chicago PD 2022

As we move into the middle of summer, we are taking some time to reflect on the past seasons, and are looking into our crystal ball on what to predict for next spring? Since the pandemic, there has been a higher demand for plant material, the question is, will this continue in the future? What will the next trend be?

During the summer months, our sales team peruse trial gardens to see what’s hot and what’s not. We have time to visit our landscape customers sites to see what’s working and what didn’t for them. We like to visit our garden center clients to see what they think their next move will be for the following year. We also have time to do a lot of catalog searches and discussion with peers on what to expect.

Our Garden Center clients must always be aware of the new trends and pre order what they think will be the hot items, or what consumers will continue to lean towards, but how do we as a wholesale grower foresee the future? This is always a challenging question one that we do not take light heartedly. We intensely look at what we grow, how much of it and is there anything better out there that will work better for our growing environment and most of all, what are our customers want’s.

Take some time to look at what was working for you this summer and what you need to change out, call us if you have any questions or would like us to visit to give you some ideas. Before long we will be shipping Fall and dreaming about next year, warmer weather and spring flowers.

Happy Summer!
