Right on Target!

Target Dates Defined

Hitting the target is everyone’s aspiration- from a fun game of darts to reaching our goals personally and professionally.

At RCOP, we take hitting the bullseye very seriously!!!

Weekly our seasonal inventory is updated including target ready dates.  What does this target date mean to you? This is the ship week that our growing team is shooting for the crop to be at its optimal finish point to be in full bloom and size to be retail and landscape ready.  This can be crucially important for installations and making sure that the stage of the plants meets your expectations!

Here is an example from our Fall Availability:

In this case, there are 90 - 4 ½” Pansy Delta Pro Clear Yellow in full bloom for the week of 8/31, 10 that will be available in full bloom for 9/7, and 40 scheduled for 9/14 again in full bloom

Let’s compare the photos of the 8/31 crop to the 9/7 target date of Delta Pro Clear Yellow.

A week’s growth is a major difference!

Mums are a bit more special as their target date is when they are cracking color, allowing for the freshest flowering stage delivered to you.  Each variety is classified as an Early, Mid, or Late season bloomer along with some designated as Early Season Extenders which determines their cracking color date.

We apply our target dates for both spring and fall and hope this information will help with your crop planning and help you stay on target!
