After the Fall Rush – What’s Next at RCOP?

Fall shipping- what a rush! The window for fall shipping is much tighter than spring. Fields of mums and tables of pansies along with other fall companion plants find their homes in the landscape in a matter of a few weeks.

No time to waste at RCOP. As soon as these beauties are shipped, the growing areas are cleaned, sanitized, and readied for spring production. Greenhouses that require a fresh covering are considered priority as “pulling poly” needs to be accomplished when there is still a bit of warmth in the air to enable a tight fit and for the people executing the task!

As the mums are shipped and the fields are emptied, the ground fabric and irrigation lines are prepared for winter storage until they are needed again, cleaned and labeled for efficient installation for the next season.

Shipping racks are disassembled and stored for winter, awaiting the early spring flowers.

For our main warm houses where spring growing has already commenced with the sowing of dracaena spikes and asparagus fern, heating systems are prepared for winter, and everything is inspected so when the first unrooted cuttings arrive, all systems are go, ready to launch into spring when the short days of winter are over and we begin full scale growing again.

Dracaena Spike seeds sown this fall will be this size in December!

Our office team is just as busy, assisting with Plug and Liner orders and Early Spring bookings- it is time to take advantage of Early Order Discounts!  What is next at RCOP? We are in full swing for spring long before the autumn leaves fall!
